Personal Safety

Personal Safety Devices for Elderly, Children, Campus, Workplace

Varying defense weapons are designed to help people defend themselves at home, when walking on the street, when hiking or camping, or when riding a bus, train, or car. There are personal safety devices for elderly people to make sure they are able to call for help in case of an emergency. And there are security devices for protecting college students or working women while they are at school or in the office. There is simply no reason that people should not strive to improve their personal safety in every way.

Personal safety products do not only protect us against all sorts of dangers. They also give us peace of mind. People should not have to worry about getting mugged or becoming targets of aggression, hostility, or harassment. Besides the obvious threat to life and limb, threats to personal safety can seriously harm professional, creative, and social growth.

Safety for Women

Women can be the targets of sexual predators in the workplace, such as receptionists or sales staff who deal with a lot of visitors. Being small and light, personal alarms suit women in such jobs. These are activated by pulling a chain attached to the device or by pressing a button on it. The loud alarm will attract the attention of bystanders or cops who might be in the area if the victim is out on the street. And the racket will often scare off a harasser or an assailant in the first place.

Any woman should bring the Drink Guard™ Date Rape Drug Detector when she goes out. It is a fast, convenient way for her to check if her drink has been drugged.

Instructional fighting DVD’s will teach women to hit back effectively at attackers. And women will learn self-defense much faster on video than they would in a class.

Safety for Families

Certain products can keep our family members safe. The SafeFamilyLife Kits are safety and security kits assembled by security experts to handle security threats against families at home, college students on campus, or women in the office, for example. Each special purpose kit packs practically all the gear you will need to handle the specific threats this kit is designed to counter, plus manuals, instructional DVDs, and security reports. Attempting to assemble all those items yourself will result in you wasting your time and money, assuming you are no security expert, because you will just end up choosing the wrong products.

Child trackers are devices for keeping track of where your child is at any given time. Child Internet safety software ensures your child’s personal safety against dangerous online prowlers and the like by recording their surfing habits for you to review. Such software can also block inappropriate Web sites.

There are kits designed to provide personal safety for students whether they are moving around the campus or staying in their dorms. Personal safety in school means, among other things, avoiding dark, isolated areas that may also be infrequently patrolled, and not letting anyone you do not know into your room or even into your dorm.

And that is not enough. If you have kids in college, you know you can’t depend on a security guard to be around as soon as something happens to them. If they ever get attacked either in their residence hall or while they are outside, they should be carrying something to defend themselves with. A college survival kit holds helpful devices for ensuring the personal safety of young adults.

Street and Outdoor Safety

When it comes to personal safety for runners, they can carry kubotans, which are short, hardened aluminum rods with either blunt or pointed ends. These can be concealed easily on the body, or the slim weapon can be carried in the hand where it will not be seen by an attacker, giving you the element of surprise in a counterattack.

No one would want to carry a heavy, bulky defense weapon on their Sunday morning run. A kubotan is a good weapon to ensure personal safety for young adults, too. Personal safety lights, on the other hand, will make a nighttime jogger very visible and protect them from getting hit by cars. Runners should always carry dog repellents, too. Likewise, bicycle safety lights, typically fixed to a bike’s frame, make a cyclist so much more visible to approaching drivers, even from a good distance.

Just because someone might be missing a hand or a limb, or may not be able to move normally, does not mean they have to be helpless against an assailant. A penknife or steel batons, for example, can provide personal safety for the disabled. These can ensure one’s personal safety in parking lots as well.

If you are running a store, get some security scanners. They will let your security personnel conduct searches without having to touch anyone.

If your beagle or Siamese loves going exploring and you worry about not being able to locate them, get them some pet safety lights. These are waterproof so it does not matter if your pet goes where it is wet. With these lights being visible from a half-mile away, drivers will see your pet on the road long before they reach the pet.

Modern slingshots can be used for defense, and these are not the same crude, homemade wooden weapons your grandpa had as a kid. They are high-tech aluminum slingshots with an over-100-yard range. Hitting a mugger from 10 yards with one of these is going to really hurt them.

If you love the great outdoors, you know you could come face-to-face with some dangerous animal. That is why blowguns and accessories used for them are worth considering. These are not the kind tribesmen used. These are made of aircraft aluminum, with darts that can go through ¼ inch of plywood. You could use them for hunting, plus they double as paintball guns. Bear repellents should always be part of your gear, too.

We love road trips, but not many of us invest in automotive safety products. These can keep unforeseen circumstances from turning that great road adventure into a nightmare.
